I am writing to offer my strongest recommendation for Soldiers For Recovery in support of their grant application. Our partnership with their team has had a measurable and transformative impact on our school community.
Last year, we invited Soldiers For Recovery to present to our students on vaping awareness and prevention. At the time, we were facing a significant challenge related to student vaping. In October alone, we recorded 410 vape detections in our building.
The impact of their presentation was both immediate and significant. In November, vape detections dropped to 169. Following the Soldiers For Recovery presentation in December, detections further decreased to 100, and by January, they were down to 84.
Within just two months, we experienced a 54% reduction in vape detections. This measurable decrease speaks directly to the effectiveness of their presentation, the relatability of their facilitators, and their ability to engage young people in honest, meaningful conversations about decision-making and health.
Beyond the data, what stood out most was the way Soldiers For Recovery connected with our students. Their approach was educational, authentic, and grounded in lived experience. Students were not only informed — they were reflective and empowered to make healthier choices.
As a school leader focused on cultivating a culture of accountability, belonging, and high support, I can confidently say that Soldiers For Recovery aligned with our mission and delivered impactful results. Their work is not only necessary but proven.
I strongly encourage you to consider their grant application. Additional funding will allow them to expand this critical work and positively impact even more young people.
